Gerry Adams has launched a brand new publication about Inishowen Councillor Eddie Fullerton.
The ebook was launched in Buncrana final night time, on the anniversary of the assassination of Mr Fullerton at his residence in 1991.
Adams, who has a sequence of texts and podcasts referred to as ‘Leargas’ has included the story of Eddie’s activism and loss of life.
‘Councillor Eddie Fullerton: Visionary. Patriot. Martyr’ was unveiled at a really well-attended occasion within the Lake of Shadows Resort.
It was standing room just for the launch, which heard from Padraig MacLochlainn TD, Amanda Fullerton and Gerry Adams. A presentation was made to Eddie’s spouse, Dinah and his daughters.
Donegal Councillor Eddie Fullerton was shot and killed by a UDA loss of life squad performing in collusion with British state forces on 25 Might 1991.
In his new ebook, former Sinn Fein chief Adams tells the story of Eddie from his start in 1935, by his youth in Inis Eoghan, his journey to Scotland and England, his marriage to Dinah and his return to Donegal.
The ebook recounts his activism as a Sinn Féin Councillor and his killing by the UDA.
Gerry Adams writes: “I used to be privileged to know Eddie. He was a good friend. He was a proud Donegal man, and in public life a County Councillor. Eddie lived simply outdoors Buncrana at Cockhill. He was married to Dinah. That they had six kids; Johnny, Marina, Albert, Amanda, Anita and Eddie.”
The previous Uachtarán Shinn Féin describes Eddie as “enormously brave, self-effacing, humorous, and fearless, and tireless in his efforts on behalf of the folks of Donegal and in defence of the folks of rural Eire. He was a visionary who understood the significance of planning for the long run: whether or not that was standing up and arguing for Irish unity and towards British violence within the North, or as an advocate for higher housing and well being provision, or for a reservoir to supply a lot wanted clear water for the folks of Inis Eoghain.”
